Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of any stat.
Players can recycle six items at a time to gauge the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your armor and weapons. This can be done through a number of means that include the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.
You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any kind of equipment, and offer less than equipment-specific upgrades. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, simply select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display an overview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.
The number of upgrade components needed for a particular item can be seen in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases with the upgrade level and rarity, however it can be reduced by various ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
The majority of weapons can be upgraded by a prefix like a rune or an insignia, and others can be enhanced with a suffix. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs

Each glyph comes with a range of values that it could enhance a stat according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can increase a stat's value by and not the amount it actually improves it by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and the quality of the item you are in awe of.
Most upgrade components slotted into items cannot be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.
If you take an item off after putting a glyph on it, the shards of the glyph will vanish. You can also apply a glyph to your equipment to add an additional benefit. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly rather than all at once. This is helpful for those who take lots of damage from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes of weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mysterious boxes, rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Reroll tokens give the player a brand new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can be used to boost the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is by the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
In item upgrade to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls will determine the percentage chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, but players must be aware that it will reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls required to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective on ring items and Diadems that do not have any competing ilvl-raising options.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players as being too expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it in the form of money or food items which would allow them to change their builds without wasting time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this point in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to increase the level of an upgrade for an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade that increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for the stat. Finally, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. Once this is done, the new item will retain its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is crucial to remember that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are instances where a higher or more special roll can occur. Additionally the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item, so should you upgrade a unique or rare item to an extraordinary type you could achieve an increased iLevel.
